What? I'm 45???? My Birthday...

This past Friday was my 45^th birthday. We celebrated on Thursday night and Jade cooked us the most delicious meal. That was her gift to me and it was so special. She made everything from scratch and wrote me the most beautiful letter.

Rather than use the dining table, she got out our card table, covered it in a black table cloth and set the table, complete with a candle and wine glasses.

Mum came over and celebrated with us.

Bruschetta

Our entree was Bruschetta. Believe it or not this was the first time in my life that I've tried it and Oh! It was wonderful. The bread was grilled and topped with roasted capsicum, fresh tomatoes, feta cheese and fresh basil and then drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Delightful!

Moroccan Chicken, stringless beans and couscous

For the main course she made Moroccan chicken kebabs, stringless beans and a delicious couscous. The couscous had chick peas, roasted almonds (which she even roasted herself), raisins and some sort of spice. We made numerous “yummy” noises as we ate LOL

Black Forest Cheesecake

Desert was totally home made Black Forest Cheesecake. The base was made of crushed chocolate biscuits, the filling was softened cheese and dark chocolate and it was accompanied by a cherry sauce which she reduced so it was nice and concentrated. We had a dollop of vanilla ice cream with the cheesecake. Needless to say, we had seconds.

We took breaks between each course and chatted while Jade prepared the next course. She's an amazing cook and finds such delight in feeding us :)

We don't usually do presents so I was stunned and delighted when Brian gave me Silverchair's “Young Modern” album. I love their music. Mum gave me some money.

All in all it was a great birthday and I felt thoroughly spoiled.

Now I just have to get used to the fact that I'm 45 years old...
